Cardinal Flower
Lobelia cardinalis
This beautiful flower blooms late summer into fall and is easy to spot. The bright red flowers sit atop 2 to 5 foot plants. Flowers are irregular in shape and appear at the top of the plant in a flower spike which blooms from bottom to top. Leaves are alternate and toothed.
