Indian Cucumber Root
Medeola virginiana
This plant is another member of the lily family and is fairly common. There are usually 2 sets of leaves and they are whorled. The top set has 3 leaves, the bottom has 6-10. Flowers form in mid to late spring and hang below the top set of leaves. They are yellow green in color and have 6 regular parts. In the fall, a cluster of dark purple berries forms above the top set of leaves.
