Creeping Phlox
Phlox stolonifera

This plant is less than common and can be found in moist woods and along streams and creeks. I spotted these in the Smokies in mid April, but I forgot which trail they were along. These flowers were more blue, but they range to pinkish purple. The 5 petals of the flower form a tube near the stem and the stamens extend just out of the tube.
