Trout Lily
Erythronium umbilicatum

Trout Lily is one of the earliest blooming wildflowers that I have noticed. The plant produces 1 yellow flower with 6 regular parts with purple spots near the base. The 2 leaves are basal and mottled with brown and/or white splotches. These were next to the trail to Skinny Dip Falls and I noticed quite a few on the trails in the Pisgah Forest.
