Turkeybeard
Xerophyllum asphodeloides

Turkeybeard is a fairly unusual plant and not very common. The leaves look like tufts of grass and are 10-15 inches long. The white flowers are on top of a 3-5 foot stalk and open from bottom to top along the raceme which can be 6 inches long. Individual flowers have 6 petals. We found 4-5 in bloom along a trail in late May.
