Slippery Witch Falls
Slippery Witch Falls

12-30-2006  Slippery Witch Falls is a really nice 75-100' waterfall that is right next to the road. Only problem is that it's on private land and the only legal view you have it is looking down creek to the top of the waterfall. The first time I was there in 2003, there weren't any no trespassing signs, but I've heard that it's plainly posted now.

Directions:  From the intersection of US64 and NC281 south in the Lake Toxaway area, turn south on 281 and drive 5 miles to Whitewater Church Rd. Turn right here and in a short distance, the road bears right at a church and is now Upper Whitewater Rd. In about 1/2 mile, the road crosses Mill Creek on a bridge where you can park and look at the top of the waterfall.

Slippery Witch Falls is on the same creek that DEW Falls is on - Mill Creek. It's about 1/4 mile up creek, but there was only remnants of a fisherman's trail the last time I was up that way.
