
Upper Bearwallow Falls
I'm guessing that Bearwallow Creek descends about 1700 feet in a 5 mile meander through the park before it empties into the Toxaway River. There are numerous falls and cascades along the way. Upper Bearwallow Falls lies just inside the north side of Gorges State Park and at the time I took these photos, the park wasn't established. I've attempted to go back since, but this area is clearly marked as closed. That's too bad - this is a really nice waterfall. Here are more shots of it and some cascades below.



There is an official trail that leads from the parking area on 281 south that leads to a platform with this view of what the park is calling Bearwallow Falls. I haven't been down for a closer look, but I believe it's the section of Bearwallow Creek below the upper falls shown above.
